Piyali Das Press Releases

Jan. 9, 2015, (Arlington, VA) – ACMA congratulates the University of Tennessee, Knoxville on being appointed to lead the Department of Energy’s Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation. As a supporting member of this team, ACMA looks forward to working with these prestigious organizations to help lower costs and support the widespread use of composites. The creation of this Institute represents a significant investment in our industry and recognizes the great potential that composites have to make the world a better place.

As the voice of the composites industry, ACMA will work to encourage participation in this initiative from all segments of our industry. Our association has already convened stakeholders in industry, academia, and government to work together to maximize the value of public/private investment. We are eager to build on this momentum. ACMA also supports the Institute as part of a larger initiative to support education and manufacturing jobs across a range of agencies and federal labs. Programs like this support training and research at universities, a critical component in sustaining and growing composites manufacturing jobs.

This Institute will provide unique opportunities to collaborate with suppliers, manufacturers, OEMs and end-users to develop innovative solutions in automotive, wind, and other applications. The technologies developed by the Institute will benefit us all in everyday life and we look forward to working with our members and the entire composites industry to ensure successful outcomes.
