An overview of what’s happening at the composites industry’s premier event.
On October 27, CAMX officially kicks off with a keynote address from Dr. J. Gary Smyth, executive director of global research and development at General Motors. For the past five years, Smyth has identified global automotive energy trends and addressed energy challenges facing the automotive industry. Some of those solutions include advanced carbon fiber and green composites. Smyth’s CAMX 2015 address will provide a high-level perspective on transformational changes in the automotive industry and include what GM has learned about composites from the evolution of the Corvette.
This year’s 335,000 sq. ft. Exhibit Hall, open from October 27-29, will feature 550 exhibitors from more than 20 countries. In the Exhibit Hall, attendees have the opportunity to learn about exciting new product developments and network with fellow industry professionals. There will also be pavilions for the CAMX Awards (booth C120) and the Awards for Composites Excellence (ACE) (booth T124).
CAMX Featured Sessions
The Featured Sessions focus on trends and exciting new opportunities for the industry, including topics that bridge low-cost/high-volume materials with high-performance/low-volume materials.
The Pre-conference Tutorials are a great way to kick-off the CAMX learning experience. These courses fully immerse attendees in a single area of focus.
These sessions are case studies, best practices and issue reviews spanning the composites and advanced materials industry, all presented as lectures, panels and/or discussions.
Technical Papers are 25-minute presentations that include formal written research papers reviewed by industry peers within ACMA and SAMPE. Presentations address critical areas important to the composites and advanced materials industry from business, applications and research perspectives. This year’s technical paper award winners can be found at http://www.thecamx.org/conference-program/.
The Poster Session is a collection of work highlighting significant research conducted by students, universities and companies. Posters will be on display at CAMX from October 26-29, and authors will be available on Wednesday, October 28, from 9:30 am – 11:30 am for discussion and questions.
