January 31, 2017 (Arlington, Va.) –The American Composites Manufacturers Association (ACMA) and many members from its Corrosion Control Division (CCD) will be part of NACE International’s first ever Composites Pavilion at the 2017 CORROSION Conference and Expo in New Orleans, La. Participants in the pavilion will highlight the use of composites in corrosion resistant equipment.
According to corrosion.org, the annual cost of corrosion worldwide is $2.2 trillion, which is more than three percent of the world’s GDP.
“During CORROSION 2017, ACMA is working with its member companies to help the composites industry show how composites can be a high-performance, low-maintenance solution to an expensive problem,” said Tom Dobbins, ACMA President.
One of the many benefits of fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composite materials is that they do not rust or corrode. Products made from composites provide long-term resistance to severe chemical and temperature environments. This makes composites an ideal choice for outdoor exposure, chemical handling applications and other severe environments.

“This pavilion is a great opportunity for our members and the entire composites industry to educate potential end users about how well composites resist corrosion, particularly in pipe and tank applications,” said Steve Guay, General Manager, Ershigs, Inc., and Chair of ACMA’s Corrosion Control Division.
