OSHA “Sharpens Tools” for Workplace Enforcement 

OSHA appears poised to step up its investigation and enforcement activity against employers in the coming months, according to a January 30 analysis by the law firm Morgan Lewis. The agency looks to increase the use of subpoenas to obtain employer records and to issue instance-by-instance citations for what might be considered “egregious” violations including respiratory protection. Employers should obtain legal counsel as early as possible for any OSHA investigation, according to the firm.
