What We Do
ACMA is an American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-Accredited Standards Developer Organization (SDO) developing and maintaining standards for Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (FRP) composites materials, manufacturing processes, and end-use products. In coordination with the Composites Growth Initiative (CGI) Committees, ACMA promotes a process of openness, balance, lack of dominance, due process, and consensus by involving the composites industry supply chain (material suppliers, distributors, manufacturers, academia, and consultants) along with customers and end-users of our industries products.

CURRENT STANDARDS DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES
WG - Fiber-Reinforced-Polymer (FRP) Structures
The Code of Standard Practice Industry Guidelines for Fabrication and Installation of Pultruded FRP Structures is currently on hold by the Relevant Committee to review the resolutions and conduct a second ballot. The document is expected to be published in 2023.
WG - Fiber-Reinforced-Polymer (FRP) Crossarms
The Working Group is coordinating efforts to finish a draft of a new Fiber-Reinforced-Polymer (FRP) Crossarm standard. This effort is expected to start the ANSI Standards process by June 2023.
WG - Fiber-Reinforced-Polymer (FRP) Utility PolesN
The UCSC Utility Pole Relevant Committee will initiate efforts to update the current Standard Specification for FRP Composite Utility Poles (ANSI/ACMA/UCSC-FRP Composite Utility Poles-1-2018). This process is expected to commence in May 2023.
WG - Fiber-Reinforced-Polymer (FRP) Grating and Stair Treads
ACMA currently has a proposed meeting with the Fiberglass Grating Manufacturers Council to determine if a revision, reaffirmation, or withdrawal of the American National Standards (ANS) is required for the Fiberglass Composites Grating Manual for Pultruded and Molded Grating and Stair Treads (ANSI/ACMA/FGMC-Grating Manual-2017). This meeting is scheduled for June 26, 2023.
