EPA R<\/span>eadies<\/span>\u00a0List of N<\/span>ext C<\/span>hemicals for Review by TSCA Program<\/span>; Agency Officials <\/span>will Tour Composites Plant<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n EPA <\/span>has <\/span>reportedly <\/span>begun<\/span> selection<\/span> of 5-6 chemicals for risk evaluation and issuance of regulations that can ban or significantly restrict use of substances to avoid what the agency considers to be unreasonable risk<\/span>, a process that was <\/span>established<\/span> by Congress when it amended the Toxic Substances Control Act in 2016. <\/span><\/p>\n Styrene is one of approximately 50 substances that <\/span>could be under consideration by EPA for initiation of TSCA risk evaluation in 2024<\/span>.<\/span> Officials with <\/span>EPA\u2019s<\/span> TSCA program<\/span> will <\/span>participate<\/span> in a <\/span>September 13 <\/span>tour <\/span>of <\/span>ACMA member Composites USA,<\/span> arranged <\/span>by ACMA to<\/span> educate<\/span> the agency<\/span> about the use of styrene in composites manufacturing and the challenges our industry faces when trying to reduce workplace and community exposures.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n For more information, contact John Schweitzer<\/a>.<\/p>\n ACMA\u2019s John Schweitzer Testifies at EPA Hearing<\/strong><\/p>\n EPA\u2019s proposed revisions to<\/span> the agency\u2019s Air Emission Reporting Requirements <\/span>are<\/span> unlikely to collect all the information needed to accurately predict ground level pollutant concentrations near composites manufacturing operations and<\/span>,<\/span> as a result, <\/span>community members <\/span>could<\/span> be misinformed about potential health risks.<\/span> This was the message delivered by John Schweitzer, ACMA\u2019s vice president for EH&S and sustainability, at an August 30 EPA hearing. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Schweitzer suggested that b<\/span>efore <\/span>promulgating<\/span> burdensome reporting requirements for smaller manufacturers,<\/span> EPA should <\/span>validate<\/span> its proposed approach for modeling community exposures based on information provided <\/span>by <\/span>companies <\/span>using an <\/span>online <\/span>survey<\/span>, as the agency proposes<\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n For more information, please reach out to\u00a0John Schweitzer<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" EPA Readies\u00a0List of Next Chemicals for Review by TSCA Program; Agency Officials will Tour Composites Plant EPA has reportedly begun … <\/p>\n
