New EU <\/span>R<\/span>egulation <\/span>M<\/span>ay <\/span>R<\/span>equire <\/span>R<\/span>eporting by US <\/span>S<\/span>uppliers<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n The<\/span> European Union\u2019s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), with requirements effective in a phased manner starting in 2024,<\/span> is expected to directly <\/span>impact<\/span> about 10,000 non-EU companies, <\/span>with more <\/span>than 30 percent of these <\/span>located<\/span> in the US<\/span>,<\/span> a<\/span>ccording to the legal firm DLA Piper<\/span>. <\/span><\/p>\n The CSRD requires<\/span><\/span><\/a> companies to report sustainability risks throughout their value chain, and even companies that are not directly regulated may see an increase in calls to <\/span>submit<\/span> information from customers and other business partners reporting under the CSRD. US businesses can begin to assess whether they will be indirectly brought into the CSRD\u2019s reporting regime through value chain reporting, either by familiarizing themselves with the regulations or proactively reaching out to their partners to begin discussions on what may be <\/span>required<\/span> from them.
