Arlington, VA — (February 3, 2025) The American Composites Manufacturers Association (ACMA), an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accredited Standards Development Organization (SDO), is seeking interested individuals to participate on the Crossarms Relevant Committee to develop the new standard as well as the Consensus Body that will vote on the final draft of Specification for Fiberglass Composite Crossarms for Distribution Utility Structures.
The new standard will address key attributes of fiberglass crossarm materials (e.g., performance criteria, quality control, and field support), and best practices of modern fiberglass composite crossarms for use by fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) manufacturers, electrical utility engineers and specifiers as well as electrical utility distributors.
Membership in ACMA is not required to participate as a member of the Relevant Committee or Consensus Body. Relevant Committee members are responsible for completing a draft standard, responding to comments from public commenters while Consensus Body members are responsible for reviewing and voting on the final draft for approval to be published as an ANSI standard.
