ACMA Announces Development of Code of Standard Practice and Issues Call for Participation in Standards Committees

Arlington, VA — (May 28, 2025) The American Composites Manufacturers Association (ACMA) has filed a Project Initiation Notification System (PINS) submission with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) to begin development of a new standard titled Code of Standard Practice – Industry Guidelines for Fabrication and Installation of Pultruded FRP Structures, designated as ACMA P01-202X. The PINS announcement was published in the May 2, 2025, edition of ANSI Standards Action (VOL. 56, NO. 18) and is open for public comment through June 1, 2025.

The initiative, proposed by the ACMA Pultrusion Industry Council (PIC), aims to establish standardized guidelines for construction contract documents and best practices in the fabrication and installation of pultruded fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) structures. These guidelines will reflect industry-accepted procedures followed by pultrusion manufacturers nationwide.

ACMA is now inviting interested stakeholders to participate in two key groups:

  • The Relevant Committee, responsible for drafting the standard and responding to public comments.
  • The Consensus Body, the official voting group that reviews and approves the final draft prior to ANSI submission.

Participation is open to all interested parties—ACMA membership is not required. To join either the Relevant Committee or the Consensus Body, individuals must complete ACMA’s Interest Form. Final committee composition will be determined by ACMA leadership in coordination with the Committee Chair to ensure balanced representation and effective group dynamics. Alternate members may also be considered for non-voting roles. About ACMA
The American Composites Manufacturers Association (ACMA) represents the complete North American supply chain for the fiber reinforced polymer (“FRP”) composites industry. We are manufacturers, material and equipment suppliers, distributors, academia and end users, dedicated to growing the composites market. We serve our members and the industry by promoting the competitive advantage and versatility of composite materials. ACMA offers composites industry educational resources through our Education Hub, CAMX, conferences, webinars, and Certified Composites Technician (CCT®) program. We develop standards and specifications that drive preference for the use of composites in place of traditional materials. We lead advocacy efforts via legislative and regulatory channels to achieve a more viable composites industry. Together, we make composites the sustainable material of preference.
