Industry Standards
Composites Growth Initiative (CGI) Committees play an important role in the identification and development of industry standards that will help educate engineers and designers on specifying composites products in target markets, but also provide education on composites technology that is used for the end-use market.

ACMA Standards Advocacy
ACMA and its members also work on standards development outside of the composites industry. FRP composites materials and products is often the new material in many different markets. For FRP composites to be accepted in those respective markets, our CGI Committees work together to engage other engineers, designers, specifiers, and academics with the respective the Standards Developer Organization with authority in the market space to work in their standards committees to develop and create design guidelines, specifications, standards, technical notes, and codes that provide awareness, education, and protocols on how to design and specify composites.
The CGI Committee members and ACMA Staff volunteer on many SDO committees to provide subject matter expertise as needed on specific standards. In some instances, CGI Committees provide a critical role in developing sections of standards, or even the entire standards for review and approval. Our CGI Committees have made an important contribution and impression to many organizations such as the American Society of Civil Engineers, American Concrete Institute, American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, ASTM, Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers, and others.
Standards Advocacy Accomplishments
The work of our CGI Committee members and ACMA Staff have made important contributions to the development of the following codes and standards which highlight the use of FRP composites as examples.
