Responding to concerns that product and material selection decisions will increasingly be driven by consideration of climate impacts, ACMA is developing a program to provide composites manufacturers with the information and tools they will need to develop defensible science-based estimates of energy use and climate impacts associated with manufacture of their products and raw materials. Many OEMs such as automakers have announced that suppliers will need to provide estimates of cradle-to-gate climate impacts associated with the manufacture of components. And the Biden Administration plans to require consideration of climate impacts associated with the manufacture of products and materials for federally funded infrastructure programs including rehabilitation of highway bridges, construction of water and wastewater treatment systems, and installation of coastal and inland waterway structures.
