BREAKING NEWS: Bill Would Move Styrene to Front of the line for EPA

Legislation introduced in Congress this week would require EPA’s program under the Toxic Substance Control Act to start its risk evaluation of styrene within two years. Moving styrene to the front of the line means that the agency would issue the TSCA risk management standard for styrene by 2030.

If the agency follows the approach it is using for the chemicals already in the TSCA process, the styrene risk management standard is likely to require very burdensome and costly measures to reduce emissions from composites manufacturing operations.
